    Castello Sforzesco

    Castello Sforzesco has been the victim of several haphazard restoration attempts, but the 14th century castles still feeds the imagination. Inside are a series of museums, including the Museo d'Arte Antica, which houses Michelangelo's unfinished last work.

    Palazzo Reale
    Extensively damaged during the Second World War, the Palazzo Reale was originally the Ducal Palace of the 14th-century Visconti family. Restoration continues slowly, and the ruins point still to the destruction and wastefulness of war.

    Brera Art Gallery (Pinacoteca di Brera)

    Housed in a 400-year-old palace, the Pinacoteca di Brera has a huge collection of medieval and Renaissance art thanks to the work of Napoléon, who used the site as a repository for the confiscated property of wealthy northern Italians. Some of the featured artists include Caravaggio, Rembrandt and Raphael.
